Ever wondered why, we are more inquisitive and curious towards festivals, viz. Halloween, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Eid Idil Fitri, New Year, and the similar?

The answer is these festivals come in themes. Themes are temporary and very impactful. Children emulate the adults during such festivals, communities and schools promote these festivals. These activities with a high degree of exposure intrigue children. They help them develop a keen sense of learning these festivals. Applying this concept of delivery on core curriculum at the students, will reap sublime energy of learning in these children. On this basis, we view themes as an integral ingredient to make teaching and learning fun on top of being interesting.

Lessons taught in any core curriculum usually demand a tremendous amount of attention from the student, sometimes resulting in exhausting the child. The side effect upon the child is learning disinterest.

Creating Themes in a calendar year expands the students’ interest latitudinal, eventually allowing the students to learn the core curriculum with fun. As each calendar year develops Themes, the student will immerse themselves in learning the core curriculum surrounded by a Theme.

For instance, the Theme selected is Space for the month of March. For the entire month of March, our core curriculum will be built on the concept of Space. History, Science, Math, English, Geography and Art are taught in relation to Space. The class room will be decorated with artworks of Space.

With Thematic Teaching, Building Blocks International is able to enrich the student with details directly required of the core curriculum, without boring the student.
